Walking around Kraków in the footsteps of Sara Szenirer

The story of an Orthodox Jewish woman from Kraków who took the Jewish world of education by storm by establishing a network of religious schools for girls called Beis Yaakov. The concept for the Kraków school, which she founded in 1917, fell on fertile and receptive ground. Even during Sara's lifetime, several hundred Bejs Yaakov schools were established in Poland and in the neighbouring countries. Today there are nearly 2,000 of them around the world. During the walk, we will follow in Sara's footsteps in Kraków; we will try to understand why opening a school for religious girls was so groundbreaking and what the slogan "revolution in the name of tradition" means in this context.
